11/4: Register In Person, Movie & Legoland Weekend

October 27, 2011, OCEANSIDE, CA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Entertainment options abound at Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast

Event partners with LEGOLAND for ‘buy one, get one free’ offer to entrants

Participants in this year’s Bike The Coast – Taste The Coast (www.bike-the-coast.com) the unique cycling event, food festival, and sports expo set for Saturday, Nov. 5 in Oceanside, will have no shortage of entertainments options. In fact, if they are so inclined, they can fill up their entire weekend calendar with fun-filled activities, thanks to an offer from LEGOLAND California. That’s because all participants in the ride will receive a ‘buy one, get one free’ offer from LEGOLAND.

In addition, there will be drawings for free admission to LEGOLAND during weekend activities.

With online registration sold out early at 1,500 participants, a very limited number of walk-up entries will be accepted beginning at 12 Noon on Friday, Nov. 4 at the band shell next to Oceanside Pier.

The weekend activities kick off Friday evening at 4:00 p.m. with the opening of the Friday Night Beer Garden and the 6:00 pm screening of the classic cycling movie “Hell On Wheels” at the band shell. This will be the first U.S. outdoor showing of the movie. The 83-minute German documentary (with English subtitles) highlights the stirring battle between American Lance Armstrong and German rider Jan Ulrich for the 2003 Tour de France title. Admission to the movie is free and held in conjunction with the Bike The Coast – Taste the Coast packet pick-up, late registration, food fest, and sports expo, which are open from noon until 8:00 p.m. The Friday Night Beer Garden opens at 4:00 p.m. and goes until 8:00 p.m. and is presented by Oceanside Ale Works and Michelob Ultra. Food booths are provided through MainStreet Oceanside, producers of the well-loved weekly “Sunset Market” (www.msoceanside.com) with the projection and sound courtesy of Hollywood Outdoor Movies (www.hollywoodoutdoormovies.com).

Saturday, Nov. 5, of course, is the big day with a choice of five rides, followed by a food festival, sports expo, and beer garden at the Oceanside Pier.

Meanwhile, for those participants looking to round out a busy weekend, LEGOLAND might be just the ticket.

“If you’re looking to spend an action-packed weekend in North County, this is definitely the place to be,” said event director Jim Curl of Event Media, Inc. “After the movie on Friday and the ride on Saturday, LEGOLAND is an attractive option on Sunday.”
