THE 37 MILE ROUTE: COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Del Dios (Blue) Course is a 37 MILE loop through Olivenhain, San Elijo, Elfin Forest, Escondido, Del Dios highway around Lake Hodges, Rancho Santa Fe and back up the coast through Solana Beach, FINISHING at MiraCosta College. It is a rolling course with most of the climbing (800’) coming in the first 10 miles. There is aid at 16 miles and at the FINISH. The Del Dios is doable for most cyclists (take your time getting to San Elijo) and very scenic. One of THE traditional training rides for San Diego cyclists.

THE 66 MILE COURSE
The Del Sur (Green) Course is a 66 MILE ride that follows the BLUE course around Lake Hodges, but takes a turn to the east at CALZADO DEL BOSQUE (28) miles. The course then brings the rider through Rancho Santa Fe to San Dieguito Rd., through Fairbanks Ranch up the triple hill we call “The Three Witches”, up & down the new roads through Del Sur to Rancho Bernardo, and continues up to the City of Poway, home of the well-loved Tour de Poway. The course then turns back west through Rancho Penasquitos, meets up with the 56 Bike Trail and descends back down through the Ranch to meet up with the BLUE course riders headed to the coast, FINISHING at MiraCosta College.
The Del Sur course offers several interesting climbs and spectacular brand new roads on the way to Poway. Aid stations at 16 miles, 29 miles, 42 miles, 56 miles and the FINISH. For the slightly more experienced cyclist, but quite doable.

SAG Station #4 ( 56 miles) requires that you turn RIGHT on El Apajo at the light at the bottom of the San Dieguito hill (“off course”) The SAG is on your left at Nativity Catholic Church, 1/4 mile from the light at El Apajo (same as SAG #2). Turn RIGHT on El Apajo when leaving SAG and RIGHT back onto San Dieguito to resume the course

FINAL COURSE ROUTE HANDED OUT ON RACE MORNING AT START.
The Dos Picos (Purple) Course 103 MILE ride (THE San Diego Century) that follows the BLUE course around Lake Hodges and then the GREEN course up to Poway, but then takes a turn for the worse. Riders TURN EAST and climb up the mountain to Ramona on Scripps Poway Parkway (including The Purple Monster - a 600’ climb in around 2 miles) passing the highest point on the course - “Dos Picos” peak (1855’ elevation) on the road to Ramona. The riders circle Ramona and then descend Scripps Poway Parkway where they rejoin the GREEN course riders for the final 23 miles downhill to the beach and the FINISH at MiraCosta College.
Aid stations at 16, 29 , 42 , 62 , 80 and 92 miles and the FINISH. The Purple Course is a beautiful and quite challenging ride for the well-conditioned cyclist that should not be lightly attempted. Completing the “Dos Picos” course is an accomplishment.
