FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Miss Oceanside gearing up to participate in Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast, Nov. 6

Lauryn Moses, Miss Oceanside 2010, will be pedaling in the inaugural Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast on Saturday, Nov. 6. A novice cyclist, Moses has signed up to take a bicycle safety class sponsored by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC) to get ready for the big event.

“My cycling experience is rather limited, so what better way to get ready for Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast than by learning proper bike safety techniques,” said Moses, 23, a graduate of Oceanside’s El Camino High School and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles. “I’m really looking forward to participating in this wonderful community event.”

Moses will be riding in Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast in support of the American Cancer Society.

Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast has teamed up with the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC) to encourage people of all ages to enjoy the benefits of cycling. To that end, the SDCBC is holding regular Traffic 101 classes in Oceanside. To register for any upcoming class, please visit: http://www.sdcbc.org/classes.htm

“We’re delighted to have Miss Oceanside show her support of bicycle safety and commit to participate in such a showcase event as Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast,” said Kathy Keehan, Executive Director of SDCBC.

Bike the Coast, produced by Event Media, Inc., has partnerships with the Oceanside Bicycle Committee, Main Street Oceanside and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. These groups, along with the Oceanside Visitors Bureau, are bringing together the cycling and business communities in Oceanside to promote bicycling and offer a fun festival at the Oceanside Pier with food, drink, music and fun.

In conjunction with the start and finish of the bicycling event at the Oceanside Pier, the Taste the Coast exposition will feature attractions and activities for both riders and spectators.  Main Street Oceanside (MSO), producers of the very popular weekly Farmers and Sunset Markets, will provide food and music at the Taste the Coast.  Kim Heim, Director of MSO (www.msoceanside.com), said that Taste the Coast offers “a chance to experience the food and fun that Oceanside has to offer.  We are looking forward to a great event.”
