The cycling courses provide riders with an opportunity to taste the hills with both varying elevation gains and tasty cuisine at the aid stations and finish line.  Hills on the courses range from moderate on the 37-mile course to challenging on the 103-mile course.

This popular annual cycling event – beginning and ending at MiraCosta College in Cardiff - has teamed up with Main Street Oceanside (MSO) to provide participants and spectators with an array of tasty delights at the “Taste the Hills”festival  that will surround the start and finish of the bike tour.  The festival will include food, live music and a sports expo.

“We’re excited to partner again with Main Street Oceanside for Taste the Hills,” said Jim Curl, event organizer. “We enjoyed great success working together last fall on Bike the Coast — Taste the Coast and we’re expecting more of the same at the San Diego Century.”

MSO, producers of the highly successful weekly Farmers and Sunset Markets in Oceanside, will bring in a range of popular local food providers from its weekly markets.  Booths will offer a wide variety of gastronomic choices, ranging from Mediterranean to Philippine to Cuban cuisine.

The “Taste the Hills” Festival will be open from 10am to 5pm on May 21, and is open to the public.  All registered riders who participate in the event will receive coupons to sample food from “Taste the Hills” vendors.

A portion of proceeds from the ride help support the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition — www.sdcbc.org — a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to making bicycling better in greater San Diego.
