This weekend’s century ride training group meets on Saturday February 5, 8am sharp in Carlsbad. It will be 30 miles, it’s no charge, and incredibly well supported by the Trek ride guides and the team from the Trek Bicycle Superstores in San Diego. The ride guides split riders into pace groups that range from 18-20+ mph to 10 mph, and the ride guides take care of every group to make sure no one is left behind, or without help when those inevitable flats and mechanical issues occur. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a beginner, there is a group that you can ride with.
Last week’s ride brought over 200 people (including a group that came up from Mexico) to take part in the 20 mile ride around Fiesta Island. The goal was to teach people how to ride safely in a group, and to show some people that they really can ride 20 miles. From the feedback so far, it appears to have been a great success.
