This Week’s Century Ride Training: Saturday, Feb 19.

Trek Century Ride Training 2011

(Weather Permitting) This weekend’s century ride training group meets on Saturday February 19, 8am sharp in Encinitas at MiraCosta College.  This week is a more challenging 35 mile ride that adds some climbing to the route and builds on last week. With over 20 Ride Guides organized in partnership with the Trek Bicycle Superstores in San Diego, every cyclist who attends will find support to ride and improve, at no charge. The ride guides split riders into pace groups that range from 18-20+ mph to 10 mph, and also take care of every group to make sure no one is left behind, or without help when those inevitable flats and mechanical issues occur. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a beginner, there is a group that you can ride with.

Beautiful skies and warm weather accompanied riders on this past Saturday’s ride. This was the first ride with longer, sustained climbs and everyone did great. The views at the top of Pt. Loma were breathtaking. Definitely worth the effort of the long climb to get there.
