Where did you ride Saturday/Sunday?

2012 Bike Jersey - San Diego Century

Saturday turned out a bit gray and wet, so it looks like there might be some spin classes and trainer rides going onto our calendars for the weekend.  However you get your miles in, drop a note and share your ride to get in on the 2012 San Diego Century weekend bike jersey giveaway.  Post a short note,  or paste a link to your GPS ride to answer, “Where did you ride this Weekend?”

Keep in mind the free group rides on Saturdays with Revolution Bike Shop and Trek Bicycle Superstores Ride Guides.  It’s a great way to get out there, try new routes and meet new riding friends.

If you’re looking for new routes to ride, then check out the 17 great routes included in the winner announcement previously.

If you haven’t participated yet, we will be giving away San Diego Century merchandise this week (and every week until 5/19) with some fun website contest questions.  Two winners who participate this week will each receive a free 2012 San Diego Century bike jersey.  This week we are splitting it up for one jersey giveaway on the weekend, and one for the week.

Whether or not you want to participate, be sure to check out our 2012 merchandise, including the jersey, t-shirts and caps.

This edition of the regular weekender question is “Where did you ride Saturday/Sunday?”  Share your ride route or GPS ride track.  Post a comment below with your answer to get in on the Jersey contest. You may also post your answer and GPS info on our Facebook page.

If you want a few suggestions on tracking & sharing your rides with your phone, your GPS device or by entering your route online then check out “6 Ways to Track Your Rides with Your Phone or GPS Device”.

Win a San Diego Century 2012 Bike Jersey. The best comments between Saturday morning and 11:59 pm  Monday  are eligible.  The judging team from San Diego Century will select the winning comments on Tuesday/Wednesday, with the winner posted later in the week.

With my friends busy schedule, this morning was my first solo ride since signing up for the SD century. So I decided to ride from mission bay to the south bay. Turn out to be a fun solo ride while meeting some great riders along the way. I can’t wait for May 19th, my very first CENTURY!

Planned to go apx. 50 miles round trip from Poway to the coast with my daughter on the tandem. Mile 3 the triple shifter wouldn’t respond. After 30 minutes of fiddling with it, found out that the internals had worn out - never had that happen before. We decided to turn around because having the front derailer stuck in the lowest gear the entire ride isn’t very fun. About 1 mile away from home the chain snapped, forcing us to walk the rest of the way.

    Not the most memorial ride.

On Saturday, I planned to join my friends from RideOnCycling, from Monrovia, CA, at the Pasadena Rosebowl from which we would continue over the hills through Glendale, then north over the Verdugo Hills via La Tuna Canyon. Never found them; thought they were behind or ahead. It was chilly and rainy in the hills. 45 miles later, cold and wet I got home to learn that my team had switched routes because…of the rain! Oh well. On Sunday, I rode from a friends house in Altadena down the Rio Hondo and Los Angeles river trails out to Long Beach, then down to Huntington Beach for lunch…and a return trip by SUV to Altadena! I put in two more miles from my friend’s house back to mine to make it a 60 mile day.
