Bike the Coast - Taste the Coast presented by Tri-City Medical Center on November 2, 2013

1. The 2013 Bike The Coast Bike Ride will be held on Saturday November 2, 2013, rain or shine.

200 WALK-UP REGISTRATION SPOTS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE 11/1 & 11/2.  Riders not yet entered will be able to late register near the Oceanside Pier at the Band Shell Friday noon-7pm or on Saturday in Betty’s Lot south of the Oceanside Pier at 6am-9am. First come, first served based on available slots.  Courses are limited to 2,500 total riders.

ON-LINE REGISTRATION IS SOLD OUT.

2. CHECK IN - You must check in and pick up your bike number and course ID wristband

a. FRIDAY November 1 – Bandshell, Oceanside Pier between noon and 7:00pm. FOOD AVAILABLE

b. SATURDAY November 2 – Betty’s Lot on The Strand, south of the Oceanside Pier

Please come in on Seagaze Drive, TURN RIGHT use the Strand to get to Betty’s Lot. You MUST claim your ride number BEFORE THE START TIME OF YOUR WAVE.

Check in times:

- 100 mile ride between 6:00am and 6:45am

- 25 & 50 mile ride between 7:00am and 8:00am

- 7 & 15 mile ride between 8:00am and 9:00am

3. WAVE START TIMES

– Faster riders should try to get to the first wave of their distance.

- 100 mile ride between 6:50am (First Light) and 7:30am

- 50 mile ride at 7:30am - 25 mile ride at 8:30am

- 7 & 15 mile ride departs at 9:00am with Celebrity Lead Riders

4. WHEN ON-LINE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED (AFTER MIDNIGHT 10/27). If registration spots are still available, riders not yet entered will be able to late register at the Bandshell Friday noon-7pm or at Betty’s Lot on Saturday 6am-9am. First come, first served.

5. WAIVERS - All riders MUST sign a waiver at check-in before being issued a number.

6. FRIENDS AND FAMILY PICK-UP - Packets MAY be picked-up for pre-registrants if the following is presented at Packet Pick-up/Registration: • A copy of the Drivers License of the registrant • One (1) signed waiver.

7. WRISTBAND - You will receive a colored wristband when you check in. The wristband will get you into the aid stations on the course for which you have registered.

8. BIKE NUMBER - Please attach your bike number (self adhesive strip on back) to the top tube of your bike. The telephone number for dispatch is printed on the name sticker on your number.

9. ROUTE/CUE SHEET - Courses are marked with signs at all turns and major intersections. Download the route to your GPS or print a copy of the route sheet for your route and bring it with you on the ride. http://bikethecoast.eventmediainc.com/course-maps/

10. SAG STOPS - SAG stops are every 12-13 miles. They are located at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas and Performance Bikes in Sorrento Valley. There is SAG at Seagaze at 50 miles for the 100 mile only, which includes a lunch, at the start of the second loop,

11. PRE-PURCHASED CLOTHING - Pick up your order at the Merchandise Booth 12-7pm on Friday or on Saturday 6am-4pm.

12. BTC T-SHIRT, JERSEY & HAT –BTC clothing will be available for purchase Friday & Saturday at the Expo.

13. FINISHERS AWARD – All riders receive a Finishers Medal. Medal and Food Coupons are ready for pick-up at the Expo after the ride.

14. TASTE THE COAST FOOD COUPONS – All registered riders who participate in the event will receive $5 in coupons for food from “Taste the Coast” food vendors. PLEASE BRING EXTRA MONEY WITH YOU FOR ADDITIONAL FOOD PURCHASES, MORNING COFFEE, BREAKFAST BURRITOS and the BEER GARDEN!!

15. FINISH PARTY & EXPO - Join us! Everyone invited. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

FRIDAY, NOV 1, 12PM - 7PM

12-8PM: Packet Pick-up & Registration, Health & Fitness Expo & Food Vendors

SATURDAY, NOV 2, 6AM - 5PM - BIKE THE COAST RIDES & TASTE THE COAST FESTIVAL

6 - 9AM: Packet Pick-up & Registration, Wave Starts for all riders
9AM: Celebrity presentations at the start of the 7 & 15 mile rides
10AM - 5PM: Beer Garden (Benefits the San Diego County Bicycling Coalition)
10AM - 5PM: Health & Fitness Expo with the participation of Tri-City Medical Center, Food Vendors, Music, Sponsor Giveaways, Green Screen Photos. Emcee: Matt Hill.

16. BEER GARDEN - Everybody 21 years and older who shows a valid picture ID will be admitted to the Beer Garden. Beer Garden benefits San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.

17. START/FINISH – Under the Pier on the Strand (Oceanside Pier, CA 92054).

18. PARKING - Exit I-5 at Mission Ave. and go west. There will be a mix of free and all-day paid parking. Do not park in 4-hour lots or red zones. http://bikethecoast.eventmediainc.com/parking/

19. CLOSING TIME - The course and Taste the Coast Expo is CLOSED AT 5:00PM

20. SUPPORT - There are on-course mechanical & SAG aid as well as SAG/aid stations. For serious emergencies during the ride call 911, for mechanical breakdown (if race vehicle has not stopped for you) CALL THE EVENT DISPATCHER AT 760-542-8709. THIS IS AN ANSWERING SERVICE AND WE WILL ATTEND TO YOUR NEEDS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

21. BACK-UP PLAN - Please make arrangements with family/friends to be picked up if you can’t finish the ride. The ride shuttle is slow and can take a while before it reaches any given SAG stop.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE LAWS

- PLEASE DON’T GET TICKETED STOP AT STOP SIGNS AND STAY IN THE BIKE LANE

• This is a BIKE RIDE, not a race, and is held on an OPEN ROAD with motor vehicles.

• All riders must follow the RULES OF THE ROAD and all regulations as defined in the California vehicle code including stopping at all stop signs and lights and staying in bike lanes.

• Riders agree to wear approved helmets while riding the bike in this event.

• Participants must follow all instructions of law enforcement and/or fire officials. All Public Safety vehicles have right of way at all times.

• We strongly suggest you bring your water bottles FULL of water/fluid as well as a cell phone.

• Use the toilets provided at the SAG Stops only, please!

• All riders must stay on the right hand side of the road, not cross the centerline and should ride single file.

• If a rider cannot continue, he/she should move to a safe place off the road and signal a race vehicle for assistance.
