The 2012 Bike The Coast Bike Ride will be held on Saturday November 3, 2012, rain or shine.
ON-LINE REGISTRATION IS SOLD OUT. There are 100 registration spots still available. Riders not yet entered will be able to late register near the Oceanside Pier at the Band Shell Friday noon-8pm or on Saturday 6am-9am. First come, first served based on available slots. Course limit is 2,000.
CHECK IN - You must check in and pick up your bike number, helmet number and course ID wristband.
WAIVERS - All riders MUST sign a waiver at check-in before being issued a number. Download the waiver.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY PICK-UP - Packets MAY be picked-up for pre-registrants if the following is presented at Packet Pick-up/Registration:
• A copy of the Drivers License of the registrant
• One(1) signed waiver. Download the waiver.
You can pick-up your ride number on FRIDAY November 2 at the Bandshell, Oceanside Pier between noon and 8:00pm. Enjoy LEGENDS OF CALIFORNIA CYCLING between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm with sponsor raffle giveaways to registered riders (jerseys, Legoland tickets and more).The Beer Garden will also be open between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
You can also pick up your ride number on SATURDAY November 3 –at Betty’s Lot on The Strand, south of the Oceanside Pier. Please come in on Seagaze Drive or Surfrider Way or the Pier and use the Strand to get to Betty’s Lot.
Pick up times on Saturday morning are:
• 100 mile ride between 6:00am and 6:45am
• 25 & 50 mile ride between 7:00am and 8:00am
• 7 & 15 mile ride between 8:00am and 9:00am
You MUST claim your ride number BEFORE THE START TIME OF YOUR WAVE.

BIKE NUMBER - Please attach your bike number (self adhesive strip on back) to the top tube of your bike. The telephone number for dispatch is printed on the name sticker on your number.
WRISTBAND – You MUST wear the colored silicon wristband you received at check in. The wristband will get you into the aid stations on the course for which you have registered.
HELMET NUMBER – Please put the helmet number on FRONT of the helmet.
FREE PHOTOS: Thanks to Tri-City Medical Center all 2012 riders receive one free digital photo from SuperSportsPhoto.com. Please be sure to put your bib number on the front of your helmet and on your bike so we can tag your photos with your bib number. START/FINISH – Under the Pier on the Strand (Oceanside Pier, CA 92054).
PARKING – Exit I-5 at Mission Ave. and go west. All Day Free Parking is available at Civic Center garage (Pier View Way & Ditmar St.) and the Transit Center garage (Seagaze St. & Cleveland St. – 600 spots – ¼ mile from Start). All lots west of RR tracks are $3 or $5 all day. Do not park in 4-hour lots just east of RR unless you can return in 4 hours.
DIRECTIONS TO SATURDAY PICK UP LOCATION - All riders with bikes should proceed to Pacific St. and Seagaze and ride down to the Strand on Seagaze. Registration and Packet Pick-up and refreshments are in the lot at Seagaze and Strand, just west of Pacific. Start is on the Strand under the Pier.
Riders will start from the Oceanside Pier in waves. WAVE START TIMES are
• 100 mile ride starts 6:50am (First Light)
• 50 mile ride starts at 7:30am
• 25 mile ride starts at 8:30am
• 7 & 15 mile ride departs at 9:00am with Celebrity Lead Riders
Faster riders should try to get to the first wave of their distance.
ROUTE/CUE SHEET - Courses are marked with signs at all turns and major intersections. Please print a copy of the route sheet for your route and bring it with you on the ride. http://bikethecoast.eventmediainc.com/course-maps/
SUPPORT - There are on-course mechanical & SAG aid as well as SAG/aid stations. For serious emergencies during the ride call 911, for mechanical breakdown (if race vehicle has not stopped for you) CALL THE EVENT DISPATCHER AT 760-542-8709. This is an answering service available on event day only. We will attend to your needs as quickly as possible.
BACK-UP PLAN - Please make arrangements with family/friends to be picked up if you can’t finish the ride. The ride shuttle is slow and can take a while before it reaches any given SAG stop.
MERCHANDISE AND EXPO
PRE-PURCHASED CLOTHING - Pick up your order during Registration hours 12-8pm on Friday or on Saturday 6am-4pm at the Merchandise Booth.
BTC T-SHIRT, JERSEY & HAT –BTC clothing will be available for purchase Friday & Saturday at the Expo.
FINISHERS AWARD – All riders receive a Finishers Medal.
TASTE THE COAST FOOD COUPONS – All registered riders who participate in the event will receive $5 in coupons for food from “Taste the Coast” food vendors. PLEASE BRING EXTRA MONEY WITH YOU FOR ADDITIONAL FOOD PURCHASES, MORNING COFFEE, BREAKFAST BURRITOS AND THE BEER GARDEN!!
Medal and Food Coupons are ready for pick-up at the Expo after the ride.
TASTE THE COAST FINISH PARTY & EXPO - OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Everyone is invited, and general admission is free! Food and beer are available for purchase.
BEER GARDEN - Everybody 21 years and older who shows a valid picture ID will be admitted to the Beer Garden. Beer Garden benefits San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. The beer garden is open 3pm-8pm on Friday and 10am-5pm on Saturday.
CLOSING TIME - The course and Taste the Coast Expo is CLOSED AT 5:00PM
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
1. This is a BIKE RIDE not a race and is held on an OPEN ROAD with motor vehicles. All riders must follow the RULES OF THE ROAD and all regulations as defined in the California vehicle code.
2. Participants must follow all instructions of law enforcement and/or fire officials. All Public Safety vehicles have right of way at all times.
3. All numbered riders MUST be wearing a helmet number and bike number on the course.
4. We strongly suggest you bring your water bottles FULL of water/fluid as well as a cell phone.
5. Use the toilets provided at the SAG Stops only, please!
6. All riders must stay on the right hand side of the road, not cross the centerline and should ride single file.
7. If a rider cannot continue, he/she should move to a safe place off the road and signal a race vehicle for assistance.
