Alas, your recommended clockwise loop for Torrey Pines repeats is now illegal. I got fined $200 for cycling downhill thru the Park. Uphill thru the Park is still allowed, and recommendable.

I just did Palomar on Dec-19-2014 from Ryan Park just N of Escondido. About 60 miles RT (up and back) with 7,700 feet total, took me 4 hours to climb then 4,000 feet of the descent took about 20 minutes! Video posted on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X97HibJg9eQ
It was about 60 at the start and under 40 degrees at the top at 3pm. Make sure you take arm warmers, wear tights, base layer, take long finger glove liners, and wind jacket in pockets to put on before you descend. Cold!
